Más temprano, yo y cinco otros empezaron de explorar esta ciudad fantástica después del almuerzo. Caminaron a través de calles estrechas y vieron muchas estructuras increíbles. La más impresionante es la Catedral de Santiago de Compostela, la cual tiene más de 800 años. Se dice que fue construido encima de la tumba de Santiago el Mayor y es la destinación de un gran peregrinaje.
Tuvimos una reunión breve para discutir el horario de clases y actividades, había tiempo para ir a un supermercado, y la cena a las 9:15. Atardeció a las ~9:45, y el día número uno de mi semestre fenomenal ha acabado. Ahora es el tiempo de recuperar del "jet lag"...
We left JFK on time and arrived in Madrid about an hour early. This gave us the time we needed to arrive at the gate to Santiago de Compostela. Crazily, one of the girls lost her passport in JFK, and she had to miss the flight to Madrid. Thank God (and St. Anthony), someone found it, handed it in, and she was able to make the next flight 4 hours later. She arrived in Santiago in the afternoon, and the group was able to eat together.
Earlier, 5 others and I began exploring the remarkable city after lunch. We walked through narrow streets and saw incredible buildings. The most impressive is the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, which is over 800 years old. It is said to be constructed above the tomb of St. James the Greater and is the destination of a great pilgrimage.
We had a brief meeting to discuss our schedule of classes and activities, there was time to go to a supermarket, and dinner at 9:15. It got dark at ~9:45, and day number one of my phenomenal semester has finished. Now, it's time to recover from the jet lag...
